The Fridge: The Tool that made Us

The fridge is a fascinating device beyond his capacity of stock food, the fridge has made posible the development of the human being. In the century that has been in existence, it has achieved for us more than what other tools have been able to do in more than 2000 years. It will be very unwise take for granted the influence of the fridge in the recent human history.

If you just make the simple exercise of compare all your electronic devices in your house based on his need for the modern life and his historical influence, you will be surprise to see that only a select number have this qualities. One of these been the fridge. That is why I think the fridge is more than a simple device, is a part of the mankind for his own right.

Why Filmmanking?

One of the most important reasons of why decided to study filmmaking has to do with the fact that I grow up in a family that since my childhood did not put obstacles in to study what I wanted. I decided to study film because from an early age. Since little kid, I was interested in the ability of movies to tell stories from a variety of forms and styles.

I remember my first years at university  in a confused way, thinking about what I wanted to do exactly .The reason for this is because I made different positions throughout my studies like sound, editing or postproduction. Only now I am interested in working in the field of experimentation  multimedia.

How cinema is made to be cinema (and what role do I have in it)

When it comes to cinema, there is a great variety of areas, hierarchies and roles within the production that allow the creation of a film. Although these points are not written in stone, it is important to highlight the fundamental parts that make up the cinematographic process.

The most important roles inside the production can be divided according to the process in which a film is made. The process starts in the preproduction, which corresponds to the process of planning the project in charge of the producers, including script writing, financing, casting, etc. Once the preparations are ready, the filming process begins,  the material for the film is filmed on the set with the supervision of the director. Here the process is subdivided according to the areas of photo, sound and art. This areas are in charge of an exact group of attendees. After this comes the editing process where the film material is gathered and the plot of the film is built by an editor.  After having already made the official version of the film, it goes to the post production process, where two objectives are met: fix the errors of photo or sound and give the film its final touches, such as the color of the film or the  music.

As you can see there are key roles, such as the role of director, producer, editor or director of photography, which ones are essential for the creation of the movie. With all this in mind, my role in the creation of a film depends, this is due not only to the aforementioned but also due to the skills that one develops over time. I usually do sound recording work, animation and video editing. As for the sound recording, my role consists mainly in the recording of the dialogues and sounds in the shootings. In the case of editing, it consists of reviewing the footage and ordering it according to what the director says and the purpose of the video, be it a short film or a commercial. And in the case of animation, my work is mostly creating digital animated videos for various reasons, whether they are informative or commercial.

Hi my name is Nicolás Madera; I was born on September 30th 1995 in Santiago city. Despite this, I grew up in the city of Copiapó. There, I studied in the Catholic Atacama Lyceum from my kidergarten years to my graduation. After that, I decided to go back to Santiago to study in Chile University.

 I am the youngest of four brothers. My big Sister Damarí and my two other brothers Pavel and Ariel. Damarí and Pavel live in sweden while Ariel lives with me and with my parents in the same apartment.

About my Hobbies, they are related to my studies of Filmanking, for example there is my workings as a cartoonis, watching tv series and playing videogames occasionally.
